We’ve finally got a trailer for Darren Aronofsky’s psycho-thriller Black Swan, set to open up the Venice Film Festival in September (opens stateside in limited release December 1). After a brief foray into the world of awards-safe dramas (albeit an exceptional one) with The Wrestler, it looks like Aronofsky is back to the head-trip days of Requiem for a Dream. On the surface, doesn’t look like the kind of thing the Academy will easily embrace, but we’ll see how it hits. Natalie Portman looks to be in the Best Actress discussion regardless.
Freaky. Sexy. Visually striking. Count me in.
I actually saw this half an hour ago because there was an ad for it on the NYT site. I’m excited!
Wow, this looks weird and amazing. I can see why Portman’s already getting buzz.
I’m really scared.
But it looks riveting. And terrifying. And I love the play on “Swan Lake” at the beginning.
