More directors should do stuff like this. The awards prospects for Anton Corbijn’s “The American” are unclear right now, but it certainly looks like a beautiful, entertaining late-summer thriller. Corbijn’s definitely one to watch, and he’s been doing a really cool, informative blog from behind the scenes on shooting the film. Worth a look, if only for the awesome informal pictures of George Clooney on the set. You can really see his previous work as a portrait photographer shining through.
